Jalousi

General Director / Performer: Germán Farías

Synopsis:

Jalousi is a solo tango performance built on improvisation and presence. Alone on stage, the dancer enters into an intimate dialogue with the music, allowing movement to arise spontaneously in the moment. Through pauses, tensions, and shifting rhythms, the body navigates emotions deeply rooted in tango—nostalgia, desire, fragility, and intensity. Each performance becomes a unique encounter where improvisation shapes the narrative and transforms the stage into a living space of expression.

Objectives and Motivation:

Jalousi seeks to explore tango as a living and evolving language through improvisation. The work focuses on the relationship between body, music, and the present moment, allowing the dancer to reveal personal and emotional layers through movement. The objective is to reconnect with the essence of tango while opening new perspectives within a contemporary stage context.

Artistic and Cultural Impact:

By presenting tango as a solo and improvisational practice, Jalousi highlights the expressive depth and versatility of the form. The performance bridges traditional tango sensibility with contemporary dance approaches, inviting audiences to experience tango beyond social or conventional settings.

Future Vision:

Jalousi aims to continue evolving through different performances and contexts, allowing each presentation to reshape the piece through improvisation. The project aspires to reach diverse audiences and spaces, maintaining an open dialogue between tango tradition and contemporary performance.
