Ique

General Directors: Germán Farías

Synopsis: This contemporary dance duet explores the delicate tension between life and death. Through movement, the performers embody the desire to fall and the inevitability of mortality, while the other intervenes in a desperate attempt to prevent it. Inspired by the life of their beloved uncle Ique—a vibrant and humorous soul who tragically died in a construction accident—the piece reflects on the fragility of existence and the unstoppable passage of time. The performance creates a visceral, emotional encounter where intimacy, risk, and trust are central, allowing the audience to witness both vulnerability and resilience.

Objectives and Motivation: The duet seeks to honor memory and explore the emotional complexity of loss. By translating grief, love, and inevitability into movement, the work transforms personal experience into a universal reflection on mortality, connection, and human fragility.

Artistic and Cultural Impact: By blending contemporary dance with deeply personal narrative, the performance encourages audiences to engage with themes of life, death, and familial bonds in a direct and empathetic way. The work invites reflection on how art can translate tragedy into shared, transformative experience.

Future Vision: The piece aspires to continue evolving, offering a space for audiences to confront mortality and connection in intimate and public settings. Through each performance, the duet maintains its immediacy, allowing the story of Ique to resonate anew with every audience.
