El Zorzal
Concept: El Zorzal explores the obsessive pursuit of pure and exemplary movement, ultimately leading to a blurred line between reality and artistic inspiration. The story follows a tango performer striving to create unique and innovative movements that consume his daily life, with «El Zorzal» becoming the source of his artistic inspiration. Created by Germán and Nacho Farías, this piece offers an intimate and voyeuristic glimpse into the creative process of an artist during rehearsal. For the audience, fiction merges seamlessly with the artist’s reality.
Scenic Approach: This production is grounded in contemporary dance and employs theatrical mechanisms to explore a narrative completed by the audience’s presence. It begins with the premise of «an artist pursuing the development of a movement as pure as it is unique.» The dancer’s frustration at not achieving the envisioned movement confronts the physical limitations confining his expression.
The audience shares the same stage space, transforming the relationship between the performance and the viewers into an act of voyeurism over the artist’s creative process. Additionally, some audience members can observe from the traditional theater seating, offering diverse perspectives on the same story. The protagonist faces the challenge of being confined to a theater until achieving the desired movement, a journey that blurs the lines between reality and fiction.
Project Genesis: «El Zorzal» arises from the intersection of theater and dance. Germán and Nacho Farías, cousins, have each explored different artistic fields before collaborating on this project. Germán has focused on dance, particularly in choreographic composition and performance within contemporary dance companies. Nacho has delved into theater, engaging in acting, dramaturgy, direction, and other related roles.
This work is the culmination of their previous explorations and their shared desire to blend disciplines, leveraging their specific experiences and expertise.
