Casse Noisette

Artistic Direction: Germán Farias

Synopsis: «Casse Noisette» is an intriguing and emotional exploration of Christmas festivities in a South American context, woven with elements of dance and theater that address themes from passion and heartbreak to the intrigues and betrayals typical of a telenovela. This choreographic and dramatic work delves into the complexities of the Christmas season in the southern hemisphere, questioning and celebrating cultural and seasonal differences with a fresh and bold approach. Through an innovative fusion of kinesthetic movements and musical narratives, «Casse Noisette» invites the audience on a sensory and emotional journey that transcends the boundaries of time and space.

Scenic Approach: The project seeks to intertwine the real and the imaginary through dance and theater, exploring universal themes such as love, betrayal, and redemption in the vibrant context of South American Christmas festivities. The choreography and artistic direction by Germán Farias focus on offering an aesthetically and emotionally rich experience, where the contrasts between the technical and the dramatic, the traditional and the contemporary, intertwine to create a visually evocative and culturally resonant narrative. The audience is invited to share the same stage space, transforming their relationship with the performance into an act of voyeurism over the artist’s creative process. Some audience members can observe from traditional theater seating, offering diverse perspectives on the same story.

Project Genesis: «Casse Noisette» emerges from the intersection of theater and dance. Germán Farias has focused on dance, particularly in choreographic composition and performance within contemporary dance companies. This work is the culmination of his previous explorations and his desire to blend disciplines, leveraging his specific experiences and expertise. In 2017, this choreographic composition became part of a project to be filmed at the “Dore Hoyer” Hall of the National University of San Martín (UNSAM). The piece was intended to be presented online during the festive dates of December. The proposal was directed at the UNSAM Dance Group within the “Carta Blanca” cycle, where the members of the Company find a space for projects and research. The goal was to connect the Company with audiovisual project ventures, providing a platform for innovation and artistic exploration in the digital realm.

Cultural and Artistic Impact: «Casse Noisette» aims not only to entertain but also to provoke deep reflections on the cultural and seasonal differences between the northern and southern hemispheres. Through its unique artistic expression, the work promotes intercultural dialogue, inviting the audience to explore and appreciate the diversity in Christmas celebrations around the world.

Future Perspectives: With a long-term projection, «Casse Noisette» aims to expand its impact at international festivals and global artistic platforms, positioning itself as an innovative and relevant proposal in the landscape of contemporary dance and experimental theater. The work aspires to connect with diverse audiences and to significantly contribute to the enrichment of cultural and artistic dialogue on international stages.
